'Rambo' and 'Terminator' Producer Mario Kassar Re-prices the Sale of His Estate in Holmby Hills

If you are a huge Hollywood producer, slashing off a few million from the real estate that you are selling may come not much of a big deal, and that was the case for producer Mario Kassar.

As reported by Variety, Kassar’s estate in Los Angeles was previously listed at $39.9 million. After taking a break from looking into possible buyers, the property was re-priced and went down to $32.5 million.

There are no clear reasons why the price was slashed, but according to Variety, the price was probably matched up with the value of the land. It was believed that Kassar owned the 2.18 acres of estate since the mid-1990s.

The location of the estate is very much star-studded. Resting at Holmby Hills, it is very near to the famous Playboy Mansion and a luxury estate that is rumored to have been leased (for an estimated $150,000 a month) by the music industry’s most powerful and successful couple, none other than Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

Variety also reported that the estate is advertised as an “amazing development opportunity” to “create your incredible dream estate.” The advertisement did not mention so many details about the estate, although there were some details that were given based on the computer renders from the listings. It is believed to have a design that contains 11 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a car garage that can house up to 16 cars, a movie theater with 25 seats, an arcade space, a complete spa treatment and massage room, and a “nightclub with glass ceiling that goes into the pool area.”

Back in February 2015, Kassar returned to his post as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Carolco Pictures, which he co-founded and co-created. PR Newswire reported that Kassar gave a statement on his return, and he said, "One of my greatest joys in life was being the Chairman of Carolco Pictures, two decades ago. I am elated to return to that position, to produce the world's greatest movies once again under the Carolco brand for my fans and people everywhere to enjoy. The major difference between now and then are the advances in technology and cinematography not previously available to Carolco Pictures 20 years ago. Combined with these advances, know that the best movies I will ever produce are still yet to come."

Kassar produced some of Hollywood’s greatest action movies like the “Rambo” series with Sylvester Stallone, “Total Recall” with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the “Terminator” series again with Schwarzenegger, and some biographical movies like “Chaplin” in 1992 starring Robert Downey, Jr. as the British comedian and mime Charlie Chaplin, and “The Doors” in 1991 starring Val Kilmer as the lead singer and songwriter Jim Morrison of the popular 1960s psychedelic rock group, The Doors.
