President Obama’s College Apartment Back on Rental Market for $2,300 a Month

An apartment in Manhattan Valley, New York City, which was once inhabited by U.S. President Barack Obama, has hit the rental market for just $2,300 a month.

The apartment had popped up on the rental market last year in August for $2,400; but this time, it's available for a $100 lesser.

President Obama apparently shared the Upper West Side apartment with a roommate while he was studying at Columbia University. He paid about $360 a month for the abode, reports Huffington Post.

The listing of the residence states that the home is a two bedroom-one bathroom condo. The interiors boast of dark hardwood floors, high ceilings and a exposed brick walls. The listing also features a throwback photo of President Obama.

The listing description is a pretty good marketing pitch. Part of it reads:

"Live where President Obama live! Yes president OBAMA lived in this unit while he attended Columbia university so be part of history."

"Please call to see this great deal and who knows you might end up at the WHITE HOUSE one day!" it adds.

While the President once lived in the apartment at 142 West 109th Street, he now resides in the White House, which is obviously not for sale! However, the thought of how much it would cost if it were listed has crossed people's minds for ages.

Using the Zestimate® algorithm, property website Zillow found out that if the White House were to ever be listed, it would cost around $300 million.

Read more on how they arrived at the figure, here.

The White House ranks second on the list of "America's Favorite Architecture" with the Empire State Building leading the pack.
