Tom Glavine Finally Unloads Georgia Home for $1.7 Million

Tom Glavine, the now-retired MLB pitcher, finally managed to sell his Alpharetta, Ga., home for $1.7 million.

Property records show that the residence went on an off the market several times for the past six years. It last listed for $1.99 million in May 2013 and only went under contract in April this year. But it fell out of escrow and was re-listed in June 2014 and finally found a buyer this September closing early this month.

Stephanie Lewis of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty was Glavine's listing agent, while the buyers were represented by David Horgan of Coldwell Banker Residential, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The residence in question here is a 10,222-square-foot, single-family house that has seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

Interiors of the residence feature hardwood flooring, drywall ceilings and French doors and windows.

Living spaces include a formal living area and separate dining space and a modern kitchen with a breakfast bar sporting granite countertops. A wood-paneled study, a billiards room, an indoor putting green and a massive wine cellar are also a part of the luxury property.

The master suite has a huge bathroom with a sizable soaking tub. An exercise room and a rooftop eating area are some its other impressive features.

Outside, the home has a pool, covered patios and a large parking garage as well. The listing described the home as:

"Former home of Baseball HOF's 2014 class member, Tom Glavine. Southern charm & grandeur are the best way to describe this magnificent brick masterpiece! Located in North Atl's Counrty Club of the South. Elaborately landscaped grounds are showcased throughout entire 1.95 acres."

Tom Glavine played more than two decades in Major League Baseball playing with the Atlanta Braves for most of his career. The veteran won 305 games in his career before retiring in 2008. He was recently inducted into the baseball hall of fame.
