Giants vs Royals: Predictions for the World Series [POLL] ; TV Schedule & Live Stream

It all comes down to one last series in October. Countless twists and turns, surprise eliminations and play off baseball situations have left the league with only two teams left standing with their championship hopes still intact: the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals.

Preview

One could even make the argument that this is a series that will boil down to dynasty vs. destiny. The Giants with a victory in this series would give them their third championship in four years, symbolizing the final step in their goal as the modern dynasty of baseball and joining the ranks of the Boston Red Sox. On the other hand, the Kansas City Royals have not won a championship since 1985 and looking to fulfill the destiny of a small town team to make it to the big game and bring home the championship.

This is actually the first time since 2002 that two Wild card teams have met in the World Series. Also this is the second time that the Giants and the Royals met this season thanks to a scheduling quirk (for the curious, that series was swept by the Royals 3-0).

Game 1 Schedule

Game 1 started on Tuesday Oct, 21 at 8:07 p.m. EDT. This is a series that is very much up in the air at the moment. The pitching line up is not known, but speculation can be made fairly easily. The Royals will probably start James Shields in the first game since he has some extra rest coming into the World Series.

Madison Bumgarner may have started Game 5 of the NLCS, but he should have enough rest that he will be able to start for San Francisco just fine.

Speaking of that time off, do not expect any signs of rust when the Royals take to the field. After winning eight straight, five days off will actually benefit the team as they head into the World Series with home advantage.

The most interesting thing about this series though, is how even these teams match ups. The Royals have only won one game more than the Giants have, but San Francisco has a better run differential. That said, the Giants have not hit a homer in 200 at bats so far, a trend that they will be looking to erase in the World Series.

Poll
