Home Design Trends For 2016: Elegance, Simplicity Are Design Trends To Look Forward To Next Year

Elegance and simplicity are the two inspirations for house décor in 2016. Which means house owners can now bid adieu to exhausting fad.

According to Consumer Affairs, for the next year, house owners are advised to create an ambience of freshness without really compromising the modern and beautiful mixes for house décors.

To add some blends or accents to the house, home owners should take note that these should not overpower the natural colors and textures of the foreground. The background should contrast the natural blended colors with properly chosen retro art deco statement pieces.

Kerrie Kelly, a home design expert from Zillow Digs, said "2016 will bring a fresh modern vibe that beautifully mixes simplicity with bold accents reminiscent of the roaring '20s."

"Watch for an increase in natural colors and textures contrasted by retro art deco statement pieces," she added.

Based on the survey of interior design experts and an analysis from Zillow Digs taken from the popular photos from the website, they came up with four top trends for 2016.

First trend is the art deco-inspired patterns and shapes which is expected to make a bold new comeback for next year. However, when this will be used for home décor, they will be made with few modern improvements.

"We'll see the style's trademark geometric patterns and honeycomb shapes woven into everything from wallpaper to artwork, adding elegance and dimension," the report said. Part of this trend is the new attention for gold accents including the statement lighting to fixtures especially in the kitchens and dining rooms.

Second is the use of nubby wool rugs. The same source stated that this will go for area rugs where these will be used with natural fibers to create indoor use of rough burlap. The softer fibers will be then used for throw blankets, pillows, and rugs.

Third, the use of encaustic tiles is the common trend for the next year. What the house owners could expect from this is the use of intricate patterned tiles to give beautiful, natural-looking focal points in the rooms inside the house. These are expected in the kitchen backsplashes, bathroom shower tiles, accent walls, and even fireplace mantles.

Fourth trend for 2016 is the use of artisan accent pieces to create minimalism and thoughtful décor in the house. These can be found in flea markets, and travel souvenirs. These kinds of pieces will take center stage inside. As expected, there will be high demands of one-of-a-kind or something handmade items for global artisans to create center pieces for the house.
