Togashi has been staying away from pen and paper and has been in a very long hiatus. He has been suffering from back pain and all his manga creations have seized to produce new volumes. The manga artist has never really made an official statement about his return.

The long hiatus led Japanese bookstores to assume that the "Hunter x Hunter" series has ended.

Youth Health Mag says that bookstores is no longer looking forward to the continuation of Hunter x Hunter. "BookOff and other Japanese bookstores may have been fed up with the unpredictable production of the manga. Its production was put on hold since last August due to the series creator's serious lower back pain issues. Initially, it was expected to just be a two-week hiatus but got extended since Togashi has not recovered yet," they disclosed in their website.

Togashi's last entry for the series entitled "Loneliness" gives hope to most fans that their will surely be a continuation. In the last issue, Togashi introduces a new saga after the Chimera Ant. The Dark Continent is an unexplored realm that poses great danger to the human world and Nen users, hunter and non-hunters, were commissioned to explore the unknown territory.

Gon Freecs has finally finished his long search for his father, Gin Freecs, and it seems they will be exploring the unknown continent together. There is so much to look forward to and Togashi has surely not ended the story on the his latest issue.
