Kentarou Miura's "Berserk" will soon have another anime series that will be premiered in 2016. The manga series remains on hiatus until summer.
Crunchyroll reports that Kentaro Miura's medieval horror action series gets new promotion for its upcoming project. It has been noted that ads will soon be seen at the Kokusai-Tenjijō Station railway station on Dec. 25.
According to Anime News Network, the news about "Berserk's" new anime series first came out via Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine 2016's 1st issue. The said issue has been released on Friday stating that Kentarou Miura's manga has the go-signal for its anime adaptation.
ANN also says that "NBC Universal will unveil the anime's first promotional video at its winter Comiket booth, which will run from December 29-31." However, it has not been mentioned in the announcement the format of the anime adaptation. No one knows if it is intended for OVA or TV, or even film.
Manga creator Miura has been quoted by the magazine, stating that this anime project will portray "Guts in his 'Black Swordsman' appearance, which is only revealed in parts of the manga that go beyond any previously animated 'Berserk' story, and is only briefly hinted at in the first and last episode of the 1997 television anime series."
Another good news concerning Kentaro Miura's medieval horror action series is that it will soon be released on Blu-ray Disc with the 2012 HD remaster. This will be available in the market on April 20, 2016, at 18,000 yen or US$148 SRP.
As for the manga, Kentaro Miura said that the next chapter will soon be published some time in Summer 2016. It will also not be released every month but as an irregular series.
If remembered, in early 2014 "Berserk" manga series took a break then later resumed in July as a monthly series. So far, the manga has already sold 27 million copies in print in Japan and 8 million copies in print overseas.
