Real Estate Obituary: Glen Nelson, Matrix Realty Group CEO, Dies in Car Accident

According to reports, Glen Nelson, chairman and CEO of Matrix Realty Group, died after crashing into a utility pole in Long Island.

The 48-year-old Nelson was driving his Lamborghini Murcielago in Port Jefferson when it swerved off the road and smashed into the utility pole. Nelson was rushed by the emergency services crew to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead.

According to The Real Deal report, there were no other vehicles involved in the accident. The cause of the crash is now being investigated by the Suffolk County Police.

In 1993, Nelson co-founded the real estate investment and management company Matrix Realty Group with holdings throughout the U.S.

The properties of the company include suburban office parks in Connecticut, Alabama and Long Island, and also include residential communities across the country, according to its website.

Glen Nelson has died after he lost control of his Lamborghini Murcielago when it slammed into a utility pole in Long Island. Police say Glen Nelson was driving his $200,000 luxury car east bound on East Broadway near High Street in Port Jefferson, the Detroit News Time reported.

It was also reported by the Port Jefferson Patch that Mr. Nelson was the founder and CEO of The Matrix Group, a real estate investment and management company based in Port Jefferson.

The pictures showed a crumpled front end and roof of the car and its windscreen shattered on the ground.

The accident also resulted to a power outage in the area, but the power supply was restored a few hours later, said the spokesman of PSEG.

Mr. Nelson was immediately rushed by the emergency services crew to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson but was later pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is now being investigated by the detectives from the Sixth Squad of Suffolk Country Police.

Lamborghini Murcielago is described as a sports car with a low slung body and scissor doors.
