Painter Jackson Pollock’s Former New York Apartment Hits Market for $1.25 Million

The New York City condo of Jackson Pollock, the famous American artist renowned for his unique painting style, has hit the market for $1.25 million.

The New York Post broke news of the listing noting that the residence was also occupied by U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr at one time.

The residence is being represented by Luis Ortiz of Douglas Elliman who also featured on the "Million Dollar Listing".

Pollock reportedly took up the space at 46 Carmine Street #4 in his heydays, sometime around 1827.

The residence is an 800-square-foot condo that has one bedroom and one bathroom. On the whole, it has four rooms.

The interiors of the residence boast of high beamed ceilings, hardwood flooring, glass windows, exposed-brick walls and an open floor plan.

The bedroom apparently has a skylight roof that allows a peek into the sky when you lay down.

Filled with umpteen cozy reading and sitting nooks, the house is a unique property fit for a singleton.

The listing description reads:

"Formerly occupied by influential American painter, Jackson Pollock, This one bedroom one bathroom, French-like apartment, features 14 foot tudor style ceilings with skylights and exposed brick walls making this West Village apartment a very unique property. A top floor apartment, resembling the true essence of a West Village home. An open and inviting, bright and breezy, charismatic and warm layout."

The building also has a shared garden and barbecue area. Take a look at some of the photos of the home here.

Ortiz told The Daily Mail that Pollock's lucky number was 46 and therefore, the building was special. He also apparently took up space at 46 East 8th Street in Manhattan.

Ortiz told the Post the he was considering raising the price of the home to $1.46 million as a tribute to Pollock.

"Not a dollar more or less. It's keeping history alive," Ortiz told the publication.

Ortiz also posted a photo of the listing on Instagram captioning it:

"When I was first hired to market this apartment I could not help but think that to be a part of a listing, where such a legend spend endless nights creating the work that will forever live, was going to be something that will go in my history book. I'm now determined to learn everything about him. 46 carmine, $1.25m, let's go!"
