'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Spoilers: Fans Not Buying Caroline Dries' Claims That Leslie-Anne Huff Wasn't Cast To Replace Nina Dobrev

"The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries was recently slammed by Nina Dobrev's fans for saying that Leslie-Anne Huff wasn't cast to replace the actress.

In an interview with TV Line, Dries clarified that Huff's physical resemblance with Dobrev was just a coincidence, and it wasn't the reason why she was cast to play the role of a vampire huntress named Rayna.

"That's definitely just a coincidence. We looked at a lot of actors, and I was like, 'I think she looks exactly like Nina.' I was convinced otherwise. I actually haven't met her yet in person, though, and everyone says she doesn't look like her in person. She's a great actress, and she's perfect for the role... We'll get to see her present-day story and then everything will click when you see her in the future," she explained.

Meanwhile, fans of Dobrev couldn't help but say that Dries couldn't get over Dobrev's exit from the show that's why she and Plec cast Huff. Other fans of the hit The CW series also urged the executive producers to get over Dobrev's exit already because the actress already said that she won't return to the show.

One fan @Phoenix5634 wrote, "I'm loving the new direction the show is taking, and I think a lot more of you would too if some of you just get over Nina leaving, and the rest of you just need to give the show a chance to stabilize without her, establish new 'ships' and plotlines. This season is actually really good, it has a lot of potential to go far still."

In other news, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 has been moved from its usual Thursday timeslot to Friday. Some fans believe that this move means the show is in danger of being axed after Season 7.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will return to The CW on Jan. 29, 2016.
