Rose started off his career with Cincinnati Reds in 1963. He changed two teams and last played for the Reds in 1986.

Rose has been the all time leader in hits and outs. Former player, Whitey Ford gave Rose the moniker 'Charlie Hustle' after the latter drew a walk in a training game, sprinting up to the line, instead of jogging.

Rose was manager of the Cincinnati reds until 1989. Several controversies surrounded Rose's career claiming that he had bet on several games. In 1989, Rose agreed to 'permanent ineligibility from baseball'.

Last year, Rose appeared on a reality TV series "Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs." with his finacee Kiana Kim.
