NBA Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Hiring of Coach Mike D'Antoni Would Mean Firing or Demoting Current Head Coach Brett Brown in Days to Come

With a 1 win and 25 losses this season, the Philadelphia 76ers is truly not committed in winning any title this season. In fact, their current standing is considered as one of the worst record in the NBA. This observable output of the team is somehow being interpreted that the 76ers is tanking. "The Sixers are engaged in a tanking strategy that has largely gutted the roster of NBA talent, leaving them losers of 23 of 24 games to start the season," reported yahoo sports. And such ploy would hopefully find its end as the team is in talk with former NBA coach, Mike D'Antoni.

After some rumors spread on the internet like wild fire, the 76ers now confirmed that they are considering hiring D'Antoni as an associate head coach. D'Antoni who previously coach Suns, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers is known for his guard oriented and high scoring offenses; and with his presence, the 76ers are hoping to change the current trend that their team is currently on.

The possible arrival of a veteran coach on the 76ers would hopefully make some significant impact on the performance of the team. For sure current head coach Brett Brown would not mind some insights from D'Antoni who once took his team in six playoffs appearances. But if D'Antoni would accept the position, then someone would have to step down in order for the veteran head coach to call in some shots.

However, it might still be long for D'Antoni to be back in the head coach position, for yahoo sports reported that, "the timing of Brown's two-year extension on Friday, a deal that extends through the end of the 2018-19 season, has apparently eased any concerns that D'Antoni would be brought to the Sixers as some kind of head coach in waiting."

Although there is an extension, coach Brett Brown in his own words is disturbed by the possible turn of events. Brown told the Philadelphia Inquirer via basketballinsiders that, "the timing is disturbing of the leak. We have been talking about it for a while." Though the news may be disturbing Brown was able to adjust his statement by saying that, "this is a good thing. That name is a good thing. How could that not be a good thing?"

It would indeed be a good thing for the 76ers to have a new approach when it comes to their campaign, but it would most likely demand some sacrificial lamb in the process. And Brown would have to deal with it in the days to come.
