Unit at Charlie Chaplin’s West Hollywood Home Asking $6,250 a Month

A unit at the West Hollywood home, where Charlie Chaplin once lived in, is up for rent and is asking just $6,250 a month.

The Realtor Blog broke the news of the listing, noting that Christophe Choo of Coldwell Banker is the listing agent.

Called the "Patio Del Moro", the residence is an eight-unit courtyard building that was designed by Arthur & Nina Zwebell & architect Leland Byrant.

Spanning an area of 1,525 square feet, the unit being offered for rent has two bedrooms and one bathroom.

The unit is being offered fully furnished. Interiors of the residence feature hardwood flooring, high beamed ceilings, French doors and windows and crown moldings.

The two-storey house has a double height living room, a dining area, a colorful kitchen with custom cabinetry and multiple balconies opening out from rooms on the upper floor.

Outside, the home has a private courtyard and patio with a fireplace, a bas-relief tiled fountain that flows into the sparkling pool and a parking garage as well.

The home at 8235 Fountain Ave was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Choo describes the place as:

"Truly an architectural gem and an amazing property. Now one of the special and unique things about this building is the Hollywood history. Some of Hollywood's biggest names lived in this property. Such as Charlie Chaplin, Humphrey Bogart, Paulette Goddard, Joanne Fontaine, Suzanne Plashette, Troy Donahue is a more modern version."

The whole house was being offered for sale at $5.58 million in May this year. You can find more about the historic residence here.

Meanwhile, Andy Samberg - the "Saturday Night Live" alum - and his musician wife Joanna Newsom recently purchased "Moorcrest" - a historic home in Beachwood Canyon, Los Angeles, that Charlie Chaplin and his then-wife Mary Astor rented for brief period - for $6.25 million.
