Yankees Veteran David Cone Selling New York City Pad for $6.49 Million

Attention Cone Heads!

David Cone, the now-retired Yankees and Mets pitcher, has listed his home in New York City for $6.49 million.

The New York Post broke the news of the listing stating that the home was shown at an open house earlier this month. The residence sits on one of the upper floors of the Lucida building at 151 East 85th Street and was first listed in May this year.

Cone purchased the home in 2011 for $3.76 million. He seemed to have snagged it for a neat discount because the condo was listed for $4.34 million at that time.

Spanning an area of 2,350 square feet, the house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The floor plan of the condo shows that the entrance of the residence opens into a gallery that leads into hallways that take you through the residence.

The large living area is to the left of the gallery. There is an open concept kitchen with modern appliances and custom cabinetry. The living area has enough space for sitting and dining space.

To the right of the gallery are the three guest bedrooms and bathrooms. The master suite sits behind the living area and has large walk-in closets.

Interiors of the residence boast of dark hardwood floors, large glass windows and drywall ceilings. The kitchen has a breakfast bar with custom white marble countertops. The home has maple and bamboo vanities as well.

The building provides for several luxury amenities like an indoor swimming pool, a gym, 24/7 concierge and doorman services, lounge, basketball court, kids play area, a sauna, storage and laundry facilities. Parking services are also available.

The listing of the home notes that "it would be a serious insult to consider this building, or this rare gem within this building ...average" and urges potential buyers to "come and raise your family in the richest cultural epicenter of New York residences."

"In an area where the average price per square foot for a four-bedroom condominium apartment is $2868, this apartment should be priced at $6,739,800," it claims arguing that the "asking price of $6.495 M reflects the reasonableness and commitment of the sellers to sell, to sell fast, and to make the buyer of this home a smart investor."

Cone currently lives in Connecticut and also works as a commentator on YES Network. Cone retired with five World Series championships to his credit and also pitched the 16th perfcet game in baseball history.
