President Obama and Family to Return to Martha’s Vineyard for Vacation

U.S. President Barack Obama and his family will be spending their annual, two-week vacation in Martha's Vineyard and will be staying at a plush property located off North Road on the island.

"On Saturday, August 9th, the President and the First Lady will travel to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. They will remain there until Sunday, August 24th, when they will return to Washington, D.C. There are no public events scheduled at this time and further details on travel will be released when they are available," a White House official was quoted by the Martha's Vineyard Times.

The first family of America usually travels to the Massachusetts Island for most of its summer vacations. However, the presidential election campaigns in 2012 kept them from traveling anywhere that year.

Last year, President Obama and his family rented a 5,000-square-feet, palatial pad located off South Road. The residence happened to be large contemporary, industrial looking home that has a stone and glass facade and provides scenic views of the ocean and the rural landscape.

Before the Obama Family found the South Road home, they lived at the Blue Heron Farm, a 28.5 acre compound in Martha's Vineyard. That property was sold in 2011 to a famous British architect for $22 million.

However, this time, the first family will reportedly be staying in an 8,100-square-feet residence that has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, all sitting on a 10-acre lot. The home is located at 72 Gosnold's Way off Prospect Hill Road and is owned by Joanne Hubschman, the publication reports.

The house also has a dual basketball-tennis court, an infinity pool and offers ample water front views.

According to the Associated Press, Obama spends most of his time during vacation playing golf, taking his family on bike rides, hanging out with friends and taking Michelle Obama on dates.

News of the President's vacation has been doing the rounds since March, when the office started arranging for the trip. Some have called Obama the "most well-travelled and expensive" President in the country's history. The First family has reportedly spent about $44 million on vacations and many are critical about it.

"Here we have a president that gets on the budget line by line, but this apparently doesn't apply to his travel," Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, said in an interview with The Daily Caller.

"We've got this financial crisis here in Washington and the president and his family need to be more sensitive as to the cost concerned with his travel. We are especially concerned about the excessive luxury travel, such as his trip to Hawaii," he added calling the costs "Another transparency fail for the Obama gang" as the documents have been "covered up."
