Whitney Houston’s fan buys her New Jersey residence for $1.5 million

Now that's what a true fan would do!

An ardent admirer of late singer Whitney Houston has purchased her New Jersey home for $1.5 million and plans on preserving the residence.

According to the Zillow Blog, Dr. Matthew Krauthamer - a 33-year-old physician purchased the residence - admitting that many film-makers and others wanted to visit the house. However, he politely refused them all and assured Houston's family that he would not let anyone exploit her fame and former home.

"I'm very conscious of preserving what she created there," Krauthamer told the Star-Ledger.  "She had a lot of love and treated people very well. Her house was her family. Some of them lived there and some of them stayed there."

"She was generous to so many people and she spent a fortune renovating the house. The grounds are beautiful," he said.

Krauthamer also added that he grew up listening to Houston's songs and remained a great fan through her ups and downs. He plans on moving into the estate after finishing some renovations.

The History

However, the home went through its own ups and downs before it could sell. The residence hit the listing market in 2009, but went on and off several times. It finally reappeared for $1.75 million in February 2012, just months after her death.

Sitting on the market unclaimed for a long time, the residence sold to CPMG - an investment company - December 2013, in a short sale for $999,900. Last month, Houston's estate sued the company for not letting them extract certain personal items like "baby grand piano, a jukebox, valuable paintings, home furnishings and other items," from the home, reports The Daily Mail.

However, the lawsuit was settled amicably and Houston's family managed to retrieve the items.

The House

Houston and her husband Bobby Brown purchased the place in 1987. The residence served as the backdrop of her wedding to Bobby. It was also used to shoot scenes of the reality TV show, "Being Bobby Brown".

Public records of the home state that the residence is a 13,607-square-feet single-family home, comprising of five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The large home sits on a 24-acre lot.

The double-winged, circular residence has tiled flooring, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors and drywall ceilings.

Outside, the home has a tennis court, a swimming pool and ample recreation area.

Houston had another property in Atlanta, which was briefly used by her daughter Bobbi Kristina. Bobbi is entitled to Houston's entire $12 million estate by the time she turns 30. She recently got her $1.2 million installment.

More recently, Kristina voiced her opinion about the upcoming planned biopic on her mother in a series of tweets revealing that if there were a movie and anyone had to play the role of her mother, it should be her!
