Kelly Ripa’s Crosby Street penthouse goes under contract

Kelly Ripa, the "Live! With Kelly and Michael" talk show host and her husband Mar Consuelos have finally managed to find a buyer for their Crosby Street, NYC penthouse.

According to the New York Observer, the penthouse just went under contract for sale but hasn't closed transaction yet. Ripa and Consuelos had been looking for a buyer for their magnificent penthouse privately since 2010. The property hit public market last year.

The listing was shared by Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group and Raphael De Niro of Douglas Elliman.

Real estate sources told the Observer that the floor plan/ layout of the home turned off several buyers.

"Have you seen the floor plan?" a broker asked.

"This was really more of a family apartment, and most families want to live in Tribeca or maybe the West Village, rather than right in the middle of Soho," the agent continued.

"I know of some very high-net-worth individuals who went through there looking for, you know, like a real Soho pad. The upstairs was spectacular and the outdoor space is amazing but you'd have to destroy the south end of the lower level," the agent added.

The penthouse is a two-level unit with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms with a large living area. On the lower level, the living room leads to an open modern kitchen filled with state-of-the-art appliances. The flooring is done up in white oak. The master bedroom features walk in closets and an attached bath that sports a fancy jacuzzi.

The second story opens up to another big dining room and an exterior kitchen. A screening/ media room is adjacent to the roof deck. The floor also comprises of a cozy study/office and a gym space. The media room has a warm fireplace as well,

The penthouse was renovated by the couple for $9.5 million in 2005. The place gives off a sophisticated charm. It was heard that Ripa wanted to move to SoHo, but Consuelos wants to go uptown, according to The Real Deal.

The 76 Crosby Street building is not alien to high profilers. The apartment building is studded with celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Harvey Weinstein and Nick Denton of Gawker Media. Leonardo DiCaprio lived in the building in the past. Recently, Samuel L. Jackson purchased a place here for his daughter for $4 million.
