Disney has officially renewed "Girl Meets World" for a third season on TV. This announcement came in just in time, as several reports regarding the show's possible cancellation made rounds on the Internet. According to those rumors, the show may be headed for the chopping block because of declining ratings.
However, this proved to be nothing more than just a rumor, as the network has officially green lit the show for another season. While fans can already let out a sigh of relief over the show's future on TV, a longstanding question among fans and viewers was raised on Carter Matt: Will "Girl Meets World" Season 3 focus on Lucas (Peyton Meyer), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Riley's (Rowan Blanchard) love triangle?
The outlet noted that while this love triangle has not entirely been the show's ultimate focus in Season 2, "it is still something that is a part of the show and accelerated during the 'Girl Meets Texas' three-part event." This seemingly coincides with a recent interview with actress Rowan Blanchard on TVLine.
Blanchard, who plays the role of Riley Matthews in 'GMW,' admitted that the love triangle was something that everyone saw coming since the show's first season on TV.
"If you go back in Season 1, there are certain lines that Lucas says to Maya or Maya says to Lucas... and it's so obvious they have feelings for each other," she said.
Blanchard, however, admitted that while the love triangle storyline puts an interesting twist to the show, at the end of the day, "Girl Meets World" is still a "friendship show." The actress also compared it to the show's predecessor, "Boy Meets World," which she said was "probably more of a relationship show."
