‘Mr. Robot’ is a Series About Corporate Power Which Ironically Made It a Powerful Show

The central theme of "Mr. Robot" is about corporate power and how a group of hacker decides to go up against it. In an unexpected twist, the series that tackles such issues has now turned into a powerhouse on its own after being lauded as the breakaway TV series of the year.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "Mr. Robot" star Rami Malek received a photo where his face is featured in double-decker bus in the U.K. as part of the promotion for the show he helped jumpstart into success. To add to his delight and surprise, the picture also showed teens looking at his ad and they were wearing hoodies just like the character he portrays on the show, Elliot Alderson. Malek said, "If you'd told me that would be the case a year ago, I would have laughed. This show reaches people on a global scale, people who feel disenfranchised and trapped in a system with the deck stacked against them."

"Mr. Robot" is the biggest surprise to come out of the gates from USA Network, a company not known for shows that are dark and edgy just like the series headlined by Malek. However, USA president Chris McCumber said, "It's part of our evolution-complex, serialized, edgier stories. We had to find scripts that had millennial appeal, and we've clearly hit that mark."

Meanwhile, in a report by Franchise Herald, the second season of "Mr. Robot" is not only going to be bigger and tougher for Alderson and the FSociety but also broader in coverage as the show is reported to go beyond the borders of the United States. Creator Sam Esmail himself confirmed the news saying, "There are absolutely international themes. The idea of wanting to change the world, wanting to revolutionize your society, that's not just something that's happening in America. Loneliness has increased, and that's an impact of technology. That's a global thing and doesn't just pertain to America. Who can't relate to that?"
