Most expensive residences for sale in the U.S. (PHOTOS)

The past few weeks have seen some blockbuster sales go down, including the likes of Copper Beech Farm, the 50-acre Greenwich, Conn., mansion that closed for $120 million, and Fleur de Lys, the LA castle that sold for $102 million in cold hard cash.

Considering the recent market activity for large mansions with larger price tags, we decided to compile a list of the most expensive homes currently listed for sale in the country using Zillow.com and Realtor.com.

Take a look: 

1. Vincent Viola's Upper East Side, NYC mansion - $114.07 million

Located at 12 East 69th Street, this six-story luxury mansion owned by Vincent Viola, owner of the Florida Panthers, sits on the market with an exorbitant price tag of $114.07 million. The home spans an area of 20,000 square feet and is comprised of seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. It offers 2,500 square feet of outdoor space. Amenities include a double-story movie theater, a saltwater pool and spa that take up an entire floor, and a modern kitchen equipped with a brick pizza oven.

2. Big Homer's Pond in West Tisbury, MA - $108 million

Located on Martha's Vineyard, the popular vacation island off the coast of Massachusetts, this 314-acre property offers more than 1,200 feet of private beachfront. A four-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage and its 700-square-foot guest house are just minutes from the airport and Edgartown. Included is a 35-acre freshwater pond.

3. Penthouse unit at CitySpire, Manhattan, NYC - $100 million

The penthouse apartment perched atop the CitySpire building at 150 West 56th Street bares a heavy asking price at $100 million. The residence is a marvel with over 8,000 square feet of living space, six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The octagon-shaped residence has a 3,500-square-foot wrap-around terrace offering panoramic views of the city's skyline.

4. Ocean Boulevard Mansion in Palm Beach, Fla., - $99 million

Three Italian designers joined forces to produce the Ocean Boulevard mansion, a single-family residence that spans an area of 23,512 square feet. The home has seven bedrooms and nine full and five half bathrooms. Interiors boast contemporary style architecture. Outside, the home has a tennis court, a pool and a private boat dock.

5. Steven Cohen's duplex condo at the Bloomberg Tower/One Beacon Court Building in NYC - $98 million

Cohen's Condo located at the Bloomberg Tower/One Beacon Court Building is the only duplex apartment in the residential tower. The residence offers 9,000 square feet of urban living space with four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half bathroom. In addition, the place also has a one-bedroom, one-bathroom staff quarter. Interiors of the home feature 24-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering panoramic views of the city.

6. Martin Zweig's penthouse atop the Pierre Hotel in NYC - $95 million

Martin Zweig's penthouse atop the Pierre Hotel at Fifth Avenue debuted with a whopping asking price of $112 million. It has since been reduced to $95 million. The triplex residence is spread across the 41st, 42nd and 43rd stories of the building and covers 12,000 square feet. Comprised of 16 rooms, it boasts five bedrooms and seven full bathrooms, three party rooms and an additional maid's room with an attached bathroom.
