Allan Quatermain Reboot: Chris Hemsworth Is Rumored To Star In Movie Remake [WATCH]

"Thor" lead actor Chris Hemsworth is rumored to star in an Allan Quatermain movie reboot.

According to Tracking Board, Sony will headline the production of the remake with Hemsworth as the star. It will be based on the script written by Barnett Brettler ("20 Mississippi," "Terminus"). The plot details for the "Allan Quatermain" is currently under wraps.

It was also reported that CAA is eyeing Hemsworth, who was hailed by People Magazine as the "Sexiest Man Alive" of 2014, for the lead role in the "buzzy franchise-starter" film.

Allan Quatermain is the main character from 1988 novel "King Solomon's Mines" written by Sir H. Rider Haggard. It follows the story of Quatermain, a European hunter who led an expedition to explore the inhabited parts of the African region.

Hemsworth is the latest actor who will play as "Allan Quatermain." The character, which appeared in various films and movies, was previously portrayed by Richard Chamberlain ("The Thorn Birds," "The Bourne Identity"), Cedric Hardwicke ("The Ten Commandments"), and Patrick Swayze ("Ghost," "Dirty Dancing").

Aside from the mentioned names, "Bond" actor Sean Connery took the same role as the head of the "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" in 2013. "Avatar" lead star Sam Worthington was also attached to a more recent adaptation by Dreamworks in 2010, but it did not happen.

If the project would push through, the Australian actor will then maximize his career with another adventure-driven character, which is different for his famed Marvel superhero role as "Thor."

The outlet also noted that Hemsworth's latest film "In The Heart of The Sea" will serve as a stepping stone for the actor in the period-adventure genre. He will play as First Mate Owen Chase in the film adaptation of the "Moby Dick" inspired novel from Nathaniel Philbrick.

Hemsworth will appear in upcoming film roles including as the Huntsman in the "Snow and The Huntsman" sequel, "The Huntsman: Winter's War" and the male secretary named Kevin in the "Ghostbusters" reboot.
