‘Jack Reacher’ author Lee Child buys Expedia CEO’s NYC apartment for $9.15 million

James Dover Grant, a.k.a. Lee Child, the author of the crime fiction bestseller "Jack Reacher," has reportedly dropped $9.15 million on the Upper West Side, New York City apartment of Expedia Inc. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

Grant recently sold his one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo at 5 East 22nd Street in Flatiron for $1.2 million, reports The Real Deal.

Khosrowshahi reportedly purchased the four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence in 2000 for $500,000. Listing records at StreetEasy reveal that Khosrowshahi's residence at 257 Central Park West sold about four weeks ago. The price, however, is reflected as $9.45 million.

According to the records, the apartment is perched on the 11th floor of the 12-story building. Floor plans reveal the entrance opening into a grand gallery, which has a dining room to its right and the kitchen and family room on its right. The kitchen is an open plan eatery with a mid-rise island and a built-in pantry. There is an airshaft and a laundry room, too.

Right opposite to the family room are two guest bedrooms. The living room is conjoined to the dining room. The master suite is located behind the dining area. It also has a separate sitting room, a Jacuzzi and a dressing room with walk-in closets.

Interiors of the home feature large glass windows that offer ample views of the city's skyline, hardwood flooring and drywall ceilings.

"Awe-inspiring views of Central Park and the reservoir from this immaculate 4 bedroom home with over sixty seven feet of park frontage," the listing reads.

Building amenities include a bike room, a children's playroom, doorman and elevator services, along with laundry and parking facilities.

Lee Child shot to fame with his crime thriller novel series "Jack Reacher."

"Ancient history. The medieval sagas, the Anglo-Saxon poems, Scandinavian legends, all the way up through the Westerns, it's all the same character," Child said in a webchat with EmpireOnline.com when talking about his inspiration for the book and its central character, which Tom Cruise plays on the silver screen.
