Charlie Puth Speaks Up About the AMAs and His New Album

American Music Awards are just one of the most antecipated annual events in music. The award show honors the who's who in the American music scene, but aside from that, fans usually watch the most awaited and spectacular performances by today's hottest and greatest artists.

And that's what happened to 23-year-old, singer-songwriter, Charlie Puth when he performed his smashing hit, "Marvin Gaye" with another singer-songwriter, Meghan Trainor. The performance started off with Trainor singing one of her hits titled "Like I'm Gonna Lose You", then proceeding it with her duet with Puth.

At the end of the performance, majority of the people was shocked when the two made out, not just kissing, but an intense making out session on stage. That incident led to rumors that the two were dating, which was clarified by Puth that they are just 'best friends' and the kissing scene was planned which was a "visual representation" of the song.

According to Billboard, Puth said, “I wanted to make a record people could put on and fall in love with each other the minute they hear it. All these R&B soul records I grew up with -- I wanted to make the modern day version of that. Ariana Grande chose to dance to 'Focus' wearing a ‘20s ritzy scenario with everyone wearing white -- that was visually what she saw. It’s a matter of taste.”

So it's clear that nothing is going on with those two.

Aside from the AMA performance, Puth is busy for iHeartRadio Jingle Ball and his upcoming album "Nine Track Mind."

Billboard recently interviewed Puth regarding the album saying, "I’m very excited for everybody to hear songs that don’t all sound like “Marvin Gaye.” Everyone’s like, “'Marvin Gaye' is such a huge smash, you have to do another 'Marvin Gaye.'" “'See You Again' was such a huge smash, you have to do songs like 'See You Again.'” If you listen from the beginning of the album to the end of the album, it will all make sense, the message I’m trying to portray. It’s just like, here’s a bunch of singles we put together and we’re going to call it an album."

"Nine Track Mind" was released on Nov. 6.
