Adele's '25' Makes Record-Breaking 3 Million Album Sales During First Week of Release

Adele's comeback album "25" continues to break records one week after its release, with recent reports saying it has sold over three millions copies in the US so far. Her album's massive success is partly attributed to the slew of performances she has made to promote "25," including her much-talked about SNL guesting over the weekend.

The 25-year-old songstress appeared on "Saturday Night Live" on Nov. 21 to promote "25," which was released on Friday, Nov. 20. As expected, Adele delivered yet another remarkable performance that blew the audience away as she sang her new hit "When We Were Young."

Her guesting on the show also marked her first American TV appearance since her 2013 guesting to promote "Skyfall." The British singer-songwriter wore a brown dress to match her polished nails during the show, where she also did a solo performance of her latest hit song, "Hello."

Aside from her guesting on SNL, Adele has done a number of shows since the album's launch, including a concert at the Radio Music Hall entitled "Adele Live in New York City" and a TV special called "Adele at the BBC."

Most of her performances have been talked about. Before performing her song "When We Were Young" on SNL, she had delivered a shivering performance of the same single on BBC, as well as "Hello" and "A Million Years Ago."

The British powerhouse singer has also been busy promoting "25" overseas. She performed at the recent NRJ Awards in France, where she brought the house down with her single "Hello."

Adele's series of shows is said to have increased the sales of her CD and digital albums. According to Billboard, her third studio album "25" was projected to get over two million sales for its first week release and was predicted to beat NSYNC's set record of 2.42 million sales for its "No Strings Attached" album during its debut week in 2000.

Now Billboard has revealed that Adele's comeback album sales even surpassed people's expectations. The site reported that "25" has sold over three million copies in the US alone within less than a week after its release.
