Penthouse Owned by Beatles' Biggest Rival Dave Clark is on the Market for £15.5m

Dave Clark's former Mayfair penthouse is currently for sale for £15.5m, Evening Standard reported.

Said penthouse is a luxury abode located at the top two floors of the Grade II-listed Curzon Cinema which dates back from 1930s. These days, it hosts film premieres including In Time with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfrield, The Other Woman with Cameron Diaz, and Dallas Buyers Club with Matthew McConnaughey and Jared Leto.

Before it was converted into luxury homes in 1967, the penthouse was once offices for the cinema. Dave Clark, the leader of The Beatles' biggest rivals The Dave Clark Five, once owned the sixth and seventh floors and converted it into a single duplex penthouse.

Since Clark is one of the famous singer and recording star those days, expect the penthouse to look luxurious. It features "furniture and blinds from Liberty, a cinema-screen sized television specially imported from America and noise-activated lights," Mail Online wrote.

It became a famous venue for rock music and celebrity events back in 1960s to 1990s. Celebrity guests who have visited the area are Freddie Mercury, Leo Sayer and Dionne Warwick.

The original building was already demolished in 1964 and was replaced with a new one designed by architect Francis Lorne. The art house cinema called "The Curzon" is regarded as one of London's most famous cinemas back in 1934.

"This is Mayfair's finest penthouse available to purchase, and sits on the top two floors of the most illustrious art house cinema in Britain. This building is the stuff of Mayfair legend: Royalty, film producers, Hollywood stars and celebrities have all flocked to this famous venue and over many decades it has played host to red carpet premiers, celebrity functions and private screenings for people including General Eisenhower. Curzon Street is one of Mayfair's most desirable addresses, on the doorstep of Green Park and Hyde Park and just a short walk from Berkeley Square, Bond Street and Mount Street," Peter Wetherell of Wetherell Estate Agents said, where the property is listed.
