Reports reveal that actor Clive Russell will be part of "Outlander" Season 2 to play the role of Simon, Jamie Fraser's grandfather. Aside from that, there are rumors that Oscar Kennedy will play the role of young Lord John Grey, STARZ reported.
Rumors about Russell's involvement in the show was confirmed and announced in the official "Outlander" Twitter account that he will play Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat in the upcoming season.
The character is nicknamed "the Old Fox" in the original novel written by Diana Gabaldon because of his manipulative personality and he often has arguments with Jamie.
"Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat, was the father of Brian Fraser and grandfather of Jamie Fraser. Jamie, at the behest of Charles Stuart, meets with Simon to negotiate sending troops to support the Stuart rebellion," Spoiler TV wrote.
Previously, Russell has starred as Brynden "the Blackfish" Tully on "Game of Thrones" and he also appeared in scenes with fellow "Outlander" star Tobias Menzies, Cinema Blend wrote.
Aside from Russell, 16-year-old actor Oscar Kennedy will also appear in the show to play the role of honorable gentleman Lord John Grey which was confirmed with a tweet from Outlander's Twitter account, Fashion and Style reported.
Fans are also following the Twitter accounts of "Outlander" stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish where Heughan recently posted about having "a great week on set" despite filming "tough scenes" and working in "challenging conditions." This might refer to the heartbreaking scenes on Gabaldon's second novel "Dragonfly In Amber."
McTavish also tweeted "yesterday was messy, muddy madness but really great. As always, hats off to our fantastic crew" on the same day with Heughan's tweet.
Fans also speculate that the "tough scenes" could refer to the confrontation of Jamie Fraser and Dougal MacKenzie that will lead to the death of MacKenzie near the end of the "Dragonfly In Amber."
"Outlander" season 2 is set to premiere on March 2016 on Starz.
