Samsung Gear S2 Rumors: Smartwatch to Include iPhone Support?

When the Gear S2 was launched it was thought that it requires only an Android device to work, but now reports suggest that it might also have support for a competitor's product, Apple's iPhone.

According to TMO news, Samsung Gear S2 is Samsung's latest venture in to wearable accessory. But contrary to the android-bearing Samsung devices, the Gear S2 does not run on Android Wear technology. Instead, it uses Samsung's very own OS Tizen, a light operating system that allows the AMOLED screen to light up only the needed pixels depending on operation. And because it is not using the Android OS, having iPhone support is plausible.

The latest watch from the smartphone maker, has a 1.2-inch, Samsung Super AMOLED or in Samsung's books "sAMOLED," round display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution and a rotating bezel that controls the smartwatch. Moreover, Gear S2 has a 250 mAh internal rechargeable battery that can go up to three days because of the efficient OS of the smartwatch. If the wearer chooses to wear the phone with the screen always displaying the time, the battery can run only up to a day and a half.

Speaking about its possible iOS support, Android Headlines says that an unofficial report has explain how the two devices could work together. The report suggests that the Samsung Gear 2 will need an application to connect with the iOS. Moreover this application reportedly will be released from the Apple store and it is through this app that customers can set up, synchronize and customize the smart watch using the iPhone.

According to Android Headlines, all features that Android customer are enjoying with the Gear 2 will also be available to the iPhone. The only exception might be the Apple Pay that requires the latest Samsung Android smartphone.

Samsung has yet to confirm this rumor.
