'Fifty Shades Darker' Star Dakota Johnson Romance Round-Up: Torn Between Jake Gyllenhaal and Matt Hitt?

Following the announcement that "Fifty Shades of Grey" lead actress Dakota Johnson will shoot the film's sequels back-to-back next year, Johnson takes the limelight once again for her love life.

A report from Franchise Herald suggests that actor Jake Gyllenhaal is "desperate" to have the 26-year-old actress back. Johnson and Gyllenhaal had a brief fling back in 2011, prior to the success of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Last August, Radar Online reported that the two were spotted in an exclusive night club in Los Angeles, fueling the rumors of their possible reconciliation. The report also stated that since then, Gyllenhaal "has been pining" for the actress, even sending her flowers constantly.

Johnson slammed the reports last September, when she told Ellen DeGeneres that she was single and unattached.  

"Are people more attracted to you or do you think people are scared of you?" DeGeneres asked.

"I guess they're scared of me," Johnson answered. "They either love me or they're running for the hills...Mostly running for the hills."  

Despite her denial, Johnson was spotted just recently with another ex-boyfriend, British musician Matt Hitt. The two were photographed holding hands while out in New York City, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Hitt and Dakota's relationship dwindled early this year, after the actress took the sexy role of Anastasia Steele in the "Fifty Shades" franchise. According to a report by Hollywood Life, the musician did not like her decision.

"He hated that she took the film," a source said. "He hated all the talk and rumors that she was in a relationship with Jamie [Dornan] but that was obviously all in his head."

With the recent sighting of the two, it seems Dakota has chosen Hitt over Gyllenhaal for now. Fans are expecting more updates on the actress' love life as she makes promotional rounds for her upcoming movie, "How to Be Single," out in cinemas in February 2016.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is scheduled release on Feb. 10, 2017, while "Fifty Shades Freed" will be released on Feb. 9, 2018.
