"Outlander" season 2 has more cast added to the show because of the new location for the filming which included Scotland and Paris, where Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) travelled to during the finale of Season 1.
Executive producer Ron Moore revealed how the new location has an effect to the show because it will look visually different due to the urban setting. It is a move from the woods to Parisian apartments. He said that even the quality of light is different since it is brighter with a little bit more luminescence in Paris than in Scotland.
More jewelry and reflective fabrics will be added too to bring sparkle while everything will be rich in color and texture. Morre said that "it’s just a richer, more dynamic kind of visual palette, as well."
He also teased about what will happen on the first half to second half of the season.
"The majority of the shoot is in Scotland," Moore said according to Scotland Now at Daily Record. "The story is about half in Paris and the second half of the season returns to Scotland. So for the Paris section what we did was built as many of the interiors as we could at our sound stages in Cumbernauld."
There are also changes that they need to do for the surroundings to give it the perfect look of Paris like adding "Parisian apartments and salons and drawing rooms." For the exteriors, they needed carriages on the streets but Paris doesn't look like that anymore which made them move to Prague to shot for some scenes for about two weeks.
"Then we’re going to go to Prague, and in Prague we’re going to shoot street scenes for Paris. Like, when you see our characters going through the streets of Paris it will be the streets of Prague, primarily. There will also be some locations in Prague that would serve as, like, the Palace of Versailles. Likewise, there are some locations in the south of England, some of the English palaces that have some French rooms.
There’s some French architecture to them that we will also play as part of Versailles, some gardens, some other houses around Paris. So it’s really those three… How we’re going to build our Parisian story," Moore said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The shots they got from Prague were just like Paris and it was easier for them to edit it. He added that putting the scenes together is called cross-boarding.
With Paris-type scenes for "Outlander" Season 2, more casts that will portray the role of royal French politicians where needed adding Lionel Lingelser as King Louis XV of France, Stanley Weber as Le Comte St. Germain, Margaux Châtelier as Annalise de Marillac, and Frances de la Tour as Mother Hildegarde, Access Hollywood reported.
