The Librarians Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: Jake Reunites With Father; A Big of a Liar

"The Librarians" Season 2 Episode 3 titled "And What Lies Beneath" tells fans more about Jacob Stone while the junior librarians deal with the villain for the week.

The episode's villain was a shape-shifter who feeds on lies and chaos. It's been trapped underground for thousands of years until Jake's dad took the site for a project and started digging.

When a hole magically appeared, Jake, Cassandra and Ezekiel went to the site to check it out. There, Cassandra and Ezekiel met Jake's father, to their surprise. Apparently, Jake has been lying to his father, Isaac, who doesn't seem to know anything about his son's genius. He always thought Jake was a failure and couldn't take care of their family business.

They figured, with the help of Jenkins, that there was a shape-shifter, making things in town more messed up. In order to beat it, they had to share truths with each other. Cassandra and Ezekiel stayed together underground to keep the door open by telling more truths, while Jake looked for the shape-shifter outside.

Jake found his father and confessed that he is a bona fide genius and that he speaks several different languages and he didn't tell him because he knows all his father cares about is their family business. Isaac was taken aback and told Jake, "You're my son. And I love you." And then he embraced Jake, who realized it was the shape-shifter. "My father would die before he ever told me that," he said and they fell into the hole.

The villain changed into Cassandra and then Ezekiel and then to Jake. Jake eventually weakened and defeated it by telling more truth.

Telling the truth set Jake free and he felt he can now publish his articles under his own name.

The episode also highlighted the need for the librarians to work together as a team.

"The Librarians" airs on Sundays on TNT.
