Venus Williams Lists Hollywood Hills Home for $1.7 Million

Tennis star Venus Williams has reportedly put her home in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles for sale with an asking price of $1.7 million, according to several news reports.

Venus purchased the residence back in 2005 for $1.9 million. She spent considerable time and funds renovating the place in 2007 and 2008, reports the Zillow Blog. Considering the listed price, Venus will have to take a loss on the deal.

So why is Venus selling it for a lower price?

"They (Venus and Serena Williams) have numerous properties but they can't live in all of them, so she decided it was time to sell, especially now that the market is stronger again. This property was close to all the Hollywood activities, but she was not using it very much," Cristine Taylor of Gibson International, listing agent who co-represents the home with Coldwell Banker's Rada Roberts, told Zillow.

Listing records of the home state that the residence is a 1528 square feet, single family home comprising of three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Interiors of the home feature beamed ceilings, light hardwood flooring and floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Sitting in a private, gated compound, the home has ample recreation space and a shapely pool as well.

The listing describes the place as:

Spectacular Setting in the Heart of Nichols Canyon. Gated private drive leading to an updated, modern Hollywood Hills home. The mid-century post + beam home has light-filled rooms with a great entertainment flow. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and an updated kitchen with top of the line appliances and wine frig. Large lot with a grassy area to enjoy the large pool and deck that overlooks expansive canyon views.

While Venus has started shedding some real estate only now, Serena started off early. She sold her Los Angeles condo for $1.8 million in January 2013.

Serena and Venus both currently live in a shared property in Palm Beach Gardens in Florida. They each have a wing to themselves. The residence is a 8478 square feet, six bedroom, eight bath home, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

On the sports front, Venus just withdrew from the Hobart International tournament, Sunday, Jan. 05 citing a wrist injury. She now ranks #38 on the World Tennis Association. Her ranking has fallen drastically in the last two years as she battles with Sjogren's syndrome, a fatigue-causing autoimmune disease, reports ESPN.
