Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff Selling Montecito Home for $42 Million

Rob Lowe of 'The Outsiders' fame and his wife Sheryl Berkoff are soon going to sell their home in Montecito, California, for $42 million, according to some real estate reports.

The New York Post broke news about the home. An insider apparently told the publication that the residence will soon be sold off for the lofty price tag.

"I don't believe the deal is done, but [it] could be shortly," the source told NYP.

The residence is a large Georgian mansion sitting on a large 4-acre lot with a total of 20 rooms. The couple are selling it in a private deal. The home also featured in a 2010 issue of Architectural Digest, reports The Real Estalker.

Talking about the home and the land, Sheryl recalled:

"The minute I drove onto this land, I said, 'This is it!' To understand the integrity of the property, we walked it for three weeks before pouring the foundation"-guaranteeing, adds Rob, "that our house sits in the ground as if it's always been there."

Lowe also added how attached he was to the property:

"I always wanted that house where everybody wants to go, full of energy, dogs, music, fun. I wanted ours to be that house, and it is. 'Family home' is a trite phrase, but that's exactly what we have. Nothing makes me happier than the life that goes on within these walls, the history that's being created here every minute, every day."

This particular home is right next to famous celebrity host, Oprah Winfrey's house. In 2011, Rob and Sheryl opened doors of the home for the Oprah Winfrey Show too. Take a video tour of the residence, personally guided by Rob and the family, here.

The couple are selling because the home is now too big for them. Their two sons have grown up; Matthew (20) is already studying at Duke University while John Owen (18) is applying for college.

However, nothing has changed for the couple. They are still as much in love as they were 22 years back and currently rediscovering their 'honeymoon' phase, reports Daily Mail.

"Long marriages always go through phases, and right now I am in a phase where I am rediscovering my relationship with Sheryl, We are like giddy teenagers," Rob told People Magazine.

"I think it is because we're realising we are going to have a lot of alone time coming up when both the boys are out of the house," he added.
