Celebrity Real Estate: Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows Reduces Asking Price of Encino Estate to $3,988,888

Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows' Encino estate, which has a seemingly complicated asking price of $4,488,888, has been chopped to a still complicated asking price of $3,988,888. The property first listed on the market in mid-August, just four months after Meadows passed away at age 95.

Allen purchased the 1.15-acre, walled and gated hilltop estate in the affluent Royal Oaks neighborhood nearly 60 years ago. The multi-winged residence was originally built in 1951 and set in an ample 7,542-square-feet space with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

According to Variety, the property features a gated drive that splits around towering shaded trees before it reaches the front of the residence. The classic California ranch house features a three-car attached garage and a vast motor court that can comfortably accommodate a dozen or more cars. The house is eclectically decorated and meticulously designed with thin strip wooden floors, a wood burning fireplace, and a huge picture overlooking the driveway.

The property has a great feature of a cozy library or a small reading room which is beautifully located between the living room and the chandelier lit formal dining room. At the back of the house is a vast family room with features of a flat and wood beamed ceiling, a fireplace flanked by open bookshelves, a mirror backed wet bar, a long bank of picture windows and glass sliders, and an all wood, open staircase that ascends to a blue carpeted office tucked up into the eaves of the single-storey residence.

The early talk show innovator Steve Allen, who died at age 78 in the year 2000, entertained Hollywood celebrities during his 57-year stay in the house.

Los Angeles Times said that the ranch-style house has a gated entrance, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The hilltop grounds of the residence have great features of a swimming pool, a barbecue and a statuary. The house also features an attached garage for three and a motor court that can comfortably accommodate a dozen or more cars.
