Celebrity Real Estate: Mary J. Blige Lists $13M Bergen County Home

Mary J. Blige, the Queen of Hip-hop/Soul and multi-platinum Grammy winner, listed her home in Saddle River Road in Saddle River, NJ for $13 million.

The home boasts eight bedrooms in 13,000 square-foot chateau that stands on a 4.2-acre or 18,250 square-foot lot, which she bought at $12.3 million in 2008. In fact, it was originally listed during that time at $17 million.  According to public records, taxes amount to $98,000 per year.

The French-style manor is made of stone and stucco and includes a sauna, indoor basketball court, home theater, wine cellar and tasting room, and a pool and pool house. Moreover, it has two dining rooms, two living rooms and a six-car garage. It has a total of 25 rooms.

According to the New Jersey website, the R&B singer has had problems with money in the past that includes the 900,000 tax lien from the State of New Jersey and a federal tax lien of $3.4 million which is still unpaid on the said property. Blige will be playing the Wicked Witch of the West in NBC's live production of "The Wiz!" this December.

Blige is neighbors in Saddle River with rapper and reality show star Rev Run, hip hop's Wyclef Jean, and comedian and talk show host Rosie O'Donnell, whose English County estate is currently on the market for $6.975 million.  Saddle River also as two other pricier homes in the market than Blige's that are listed around $14.9 million.

On the other hand, another Saddle River resident, Patrick Ewing, former star of the New York Knicks, also listed his home for $6.99 million. The 10,500-square-foot home has seven-bedrooms. It is standing on 1.8 acres of land, and includes a library, elevator, four-car garage and pool. As you might expect, there's also a basketball court out back.

What do you think of Mary J. Blige selling her home that sprawls a huge amount of yearly taxes?
