Suburbs have been dubbed as the best place to raise a family. They are usually described as houses with white picket fences and country clubs.

In raising a family, it is important to choose the suburban area that you will be residing in. This is for you, as a parent, to be able to give the best surroundings, friends and childhood to your kids. Lately, Business Insider has released an updated list of the 50 best Suburbs in the USA.

The factors used to come up with the list are housing affordability, crime rates, public-school ratings, and proximity to a city center - in this case, within 25 miles.

Here are the top 10 best suburbs as listed by Business Insider and posted by Elle Decor:

10. BELLAIRE, TEXAS

Minutes away from Houston, Texas, Bellaire boasts with 14 parks and low unemployment rate of 3.7%.

9. FOX CHAPEL, PENNSYLVANIA

Fox Chapel is less than 10 miles outside of Pittsburgh and is an exclusive town. This 1.5-square-mile city has some number of private schools and country clubs around it which makes a great place to nurture your sons and daughters.

8. INDIAN HILL, OHIO

Indian Hill is for the affluent and wealthy people that love lively equestrian scene and the feel of rural charm.

7. HIGHLAND PARK, TEXAS

Highland Park is just three miles to the North of Dallas. It has been known through the years for its lighting of The Big Pecan Tree during Yuletide season.

6. PIEDMONT, CALIFORNIA

For a family who loves the beach, Piedmont may be the best for you. This suburb is overlooking the San Francisco Bay and was established in 1907. It also have 5 parks.

5. ATHERTON, CALIFORNIA

Still in San Francisco, Atherton once had the title of having the most expensive zip code in America, until it was dethroned by Sagaponack, New York this summer. The median income of families living in Atherton is around $239,866.

4. UNIVERSITY PARK, TEXAS

University Park is an inner northern suburb in Dallas, Texas. It is a home to Southern Methodist University and it is one of the highly educated populations in the US.

3. LADUE, MISSOURI

Ladue is just a 15-minute ride from St. Louis. However, Ladue has everything your family needs - from extravagant shopping to gourmet food.

2. MOUNTAIN BROOK, ALABAMA

Mountain Brook is like a town in a fairy tale for its charming appeal. It is 17 minutes outside of Birmingham and its public schools have ratings of perfect 10.

1. NEW ALBANY, OHIO

New Albany tops the list of the best suburbs in the US for the reason that it has a very impressive real estate and parks. Moreover, it has everything that a family will need. And it is 20 minutes from Columbus, Ohio.

It is highly important to know the best place for your kids to healthily grow. Suburbs have always been a great choice to bring up a number of children, rather than in an enclosed condominium unit on a skyscraper.
