Ian Somerhalder & Nikki Reed Set Their Rumored Issues Aside To Speak Out On Aminal Rights

"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and wife Nikki Reed recently set their rumored differences aside to focus on promoting animal rights. According to Fashion N Style, the couple is both fond of dogs, and Somerhalder took some time to post a video via Instagram urging fans to stop dog fighting.

Somerhalder and Reed were carrying their dog in the adorable video that was also promoted by The Humane Society of the United States.

"I'm Fighting DOGFIGHTING. Stand with me? Go to https://www.hsi.org/ian to see the rest of this video-this kind of malicious cruelty to animals is simply unacceptable. Using our collective voice is the only way to insure that we stop it. Stand with me. What do you think?" he captioned the clip.

In the touching video, Somerhalder also said, "The respect that you give to people, you give to animals. If you can build this next generation to have this type of compassion for other living creatures, it's going to span across a lot of societal issues that we've been having. Humane Society starts with you."

Meanwhile, Reed recently collaborated with Freedom of Animals founder and designer Morgan Bogle in creating and promoting fashion items that don't make use of animal products. Reed and Bogle's line was recently launched at Bloomingdales in SoHo.

In an interview with Forbes, Reed said that she believes she was tapped by Bogle for the partnership because they saw what she has been promoting as an animal rights activist.

"I am all for education, and all understanding of the journey. It's not about being perfect, it's not about being extreme, it's about knowing there are options out there, to help reduce our need for products made from animals, and increase our demand for US made products," she said.

In other news, Somerhalder and Reed are reportedly facing marriage-related issues, with some publications claiming that the former is contemplating on divorcing the latter.
