Google 'Who's Down' App Update: Similar to FourSquare 'Swarm Up' and Apple 'Find My Friends' But Google is in Better Social Networking Status?

Have you ever recalled the number of group text messages you sent, asking your friends who wants to hang out, but you only get delayed responses or worse, no responses at all?

The Google "Who's Down" app aims to change all that. This application allows users to instantly see which of their friends are on to hang out. The invite only app will be available on the Google Play Store, Android Police reported.

With Google's "Who's Down" app, users can allow their circle of friends to know that they are down to hang out, and it works easy with one slide of the app. All that has to be done is to confirm that they are free and to make a status message telling friends what they are down to. Reasons like going to a bar for a couple of drinks and/or going to the movies could be given. Friends who would like to do the same hang out can definitely agree in going out or include the user to some plans they might have made before.

The "Who's Down" app sounds easier, better and faster for hanging out with friends, Tech Radar reported.

The "Who's Down" app is kind of similar with Foursquare's "Swarm Up" app and Apple's "Find My Friends" app, though it is still unclear how this app matches friends. This is possibly done through the Google contacts or the people the user frequently chats with at Hangout.

If friends are all responsive in group messaging then you won't probably need this app. However, the fact that the "Who's Down" application allows you to see who's free to hang out, won't waste your time for those who aren't available. Furthermore, the "Who's Down" app is available to all Android powered smartphones and also in iOS devices.

Google has not given any statements yet about the app, this may be a small scale experiment that could never get a wider roll out. Though the idea is very interesting and could give Google a small foothold in the social networking space.
