CBS’ ‘Supergirl’ Premiere Episode's Popularity Beats ‘The Muppets,’ ‘Scream Queens,’ ‘Quantico’ Combined

"Supergirl" pilot episode became the season's no. 1 current series premiere for viewers with ages ranging from 18 to 49, CBS announced.

The first episode aired on Oct. 26, Monday has set an average of 12.94 million viewers; 3.2/10 in adults with ages 18 to 49 and 4.0/10 in adults with ages 25 to 54; 1.8/07 in adults with ages 18-34 from 8:30 to 9:30 PM. It is also the season's #1 current series premiere for men with ages 18 to 34 (1.7/07), 18 to 49 (3.3/10) and 25 to 54 (4.3/11).

Most critics showed support to "Supergirl," which earned the highest Metacritic score of all the current broadcast dramas. Brian Lowry in his recent review described the series episode as a good and polished pilot, Variety reports.

According to Amobee Brand Intelligence, an international digital marketing tech company, "Supergirl" is the current television show so far that creates the most number of discussions online. The digital content about the show was three times more compared to other new shows on a day that follows its debut. The top five shows mentioned in the marketing company's list include "The Muppets," "Scream Queens," "Blindspot" and "Quantico," although they wouldn't be as popular as the "Supergirl" show even if combined.

"Supergirl" is based on DC Comics' characters and centers around Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) who escaped the doomed planet of Krypton with her parents' help as the infant Kal-El. She was raised and nurtured on planet Earth by the Denvers, her foster family, and grew up under the shadow of Alex (Chyler Leigh), her foster sister. She eventually learned to hide her extraordinary powers, which she shares with her cousin Kal-L (Superman).

When she turned 24, Kara moved to live in the National City, where she works as an assistant to a competitive media magnate, Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). Grant also hired the services of the Daily Planet's previous photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), to become her art director. But Kara's struggle of keeping to herself all her powers will be over as Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) enlists her to protect the people of National City from threats, The Hollywood Reporter said.

CBS' "Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8:00 pm.
