Katy Perry’s Ex-Husband Russell Brand Disses ‘Fireworks’ Singer in New Documentary

Comedian Russell Brand, Katy Perry's ex-husband, is hanging everything out about the cause of his divorce to the pop superstar.

In "BRAND: The Second Coming," the 40-year-old British actor openly talked about why he divorced the "Fireworks" singer. According to ET Online, Brand said he "couldn't handle the celebrity lifestyle that went along with being Perry's husband."

Brand mentioned in the trailer of the documentary that he was linked with everything he loathes: "vapid, vacuous celebrity." At one point in the film, when the "Arthur" actor was shown a recording of her and Perry with a swarm of paparazzi's all over them, he remarked that power and fame are all BS.

According to the Daily Mail, the "Get Me to the Greek" star's view about life has changed when he made a trip to Africa in 2010 for "Comic Relief." This was before he and the "ET" singer tied the knot. During their 14-month marriage he was at a crossroads because even if he was married to someone he loved, he felt like the union would not lead to anything spiritual.

The documentary allegedly also includes "Oasis" founder William Gallagher's statement that he didn't think the Brand-Perry union would last.

Divorce papers were filed by Russell in December 2011, quoting irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation. In July 2012, their divorce was finalized.

Shortly after, the pop superstar openly talked about her divorce in a documentary titled "Katy Perry: Part of Me." In the film, she mentioned how their conflicting schedules and the fact that she wasn't ready to have kids caused the downward spiral of their marriage.

Brand did the same. When he was interviewed by Howard Stern, the "Big Brother's Big Mouth" host confessed how he was still madly in love with Perry but that circumstances was just in the way. They couldn't stay married for practical reasons, he said.

Russell reportedly asked that the "BRAND: The Second Coming" documentary not be released.
