‘Full Metal Panic!’ New Anime Adaptation Announced

The hit mecha-military action/ high school romance-comedy/ light novel 'Full Metal Panic!' will once again hit the television screens as the creator has announced that a new anime adaptation of the light novel series is underway.

            The announcement was done by Fujima Shobo, the publisher of the light novel series, "Fantasia Bunko Big Thanksgiving 2015" event on Saturday.

          Crunchyroll reported that the announcement of Fujima Shobo about the anime adaptation of the 'Full Metal Panic!' was given without any specific details about the format and content of the anime project.

            According to the news from Anime News Network, the November 2014 issue of Fujima Shobo's Dragon Magazine had published a feature on 'Full Metal Panic!' with an art that teased "Coming Soon." A Twitter follower posted about the teaser, and Shikidouji, novel illustrator of 'Full Metal Panic!' replied with, "Something is moving along. Please look forward to it."

            The hit series follows Sousuke Sagara, an agent of a covert anti-terrorist private military organization known as Mithril. Sagara was tasked to act as a bodyguard to Kaname Chidori, a spirited Japanese high school girl, and at the same time to act as a normal high school student. Without prior experience in regular high school life, Sousuke is dubbed by his classmates as a military maniac because he views every situation with a military perspective. Sousuke is assisted by Kurz Weber and Melissa Mao, both his comrades in Mithril, throughout his bodyguard mission.

            The first 24 episodes of the anime adaptation inspired by the light novel series 'Full Metal Panic!' was released in 2002, followed by the release of the 12-episode 'Full Metal Panic!: Fumoffu' in 2003, and the 13-episode 'Full Metal Panic!: Second Raid' in 2005. The 'Full Metal Panic!: Second Raid' OVA episode was released in 2006.

            DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of the three TV anime series were released by Funimation, while the English dubbed version of the 'Full Metal Panic!' series was released by Kodakawa in 2013, in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the franchise.
