Properties once owned by celebrities and famous people are not exempted, as some homes that were once habited by popular individuals are said to harbor specters and spooks that are forever tied to the property.

Whether it's a traumatic history or just a case of a ghost that just can't move on to the other side, these celebrity homes listed by Huffington Post definitely fit one's definition of a haunted house, complete with all the chills, spooky noises, and ghostly apparitions.

1. Joanne Rivers' Triplex Penthouse

The late comedienne once resided at a ritzy triplex penthouse that was owned by J.P. Morgan's niece, who was only referred to as Mrs. Spencer. The penthouse, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, was said to be haunted by Mrs. Spencer's ghost that Rivers had to get the services of a voodoo priestess to cleanse the home from Mrs. Spencer's spirit. The property has been purchased by Prince Muhammad bin Fahd of Saudi for $28 million, who plans to gut the property, the NY Post reported.

2. Loretta Lynn's Plantation House

Situated in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, country music icon Loretta Lynn's Plantation House was featured on the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures. The singer said on the episode that she once saw a ghost of a mother whose baby died. She also told the spooky story of her late son waking up and finding a man who appeared to be a soldier during the Civil War putting his boots on.

3. Marilyn Monroe's LA Brentwood Home

One of Hollywood's beautiful faces, legendary bombshell Marilyn Monroe took her own life in 1962 by overdosing on drugs in her L.A. Brentwood residence. Soon after her death, stories of her spirit haunting her former residence spread like wildfire. These stories still persist to this day.

4. Adele's West Sussex Mansion

Adele's former mansion in West Sussex, England scared her so much that she hired a female bodyguard to accompany her in the house. Unexplained noises coming from almost any part of the property are just some of the things Adele experienced in her former residence.
