After putting his Beverly Hills mansion for sale for $60 million, Bruce Springsteen just listed his 828-square-foot cottage in the market with an asking price of $299,000.
Said house located on Long Branch, New Jersey is just near the beach and is a perfect home for those with a more modest budget. The house at 7 ½ West End Court is owned by three fans of the singer.
The property was bought by Jerry Ferrara, his sister, Kim McDermott, and a friend, Ryan DeCarolis back in 2009. The three wanted to turn the house as a place for tribute for the New Jersey rock legend, but the plan changed, Telegraph reported.
This is the house where the singer wrote the songs “Born to Run,” “Thunder Road” and “Backstreets.” That time in the mid-'70s, the neighborhood was bohemian and the songwriter needed to write an album that will hit the billboards. While sitting on the edge of his bed in this cottage, he thought of the words "born to run" which became the title of the song.
“I worked very, very long on the lyrics to ‘Born to Run,’ because I was very aware that I was messing with classic rock’n’roll images that easily turned into cliches,” Springsteen said, according to Zillow.
Instead of demolishing the home, they planned to renovate it but only new roof and new wooden floors were added because they were no longer able to give attention to the house.
Previous dwellers are hoping that the new owner will continue to preserve the spirit of the 40-year-old album which started in this house. The house may not be a mansion but one of the owners, Ferrara, told NJ.com, “I hope it doesn’t just become some house on West End Court.”
"We probably paid more than it was worth when we bought it because of what we call 'the Bruce factor,'" Ferrara added. "We still think it's worth it."
The house is listed under Gloria Nilson & Co. Christie’s International Real Estate.
