'Annabelle' 2: The Entity-Possed Vintage Doll Confimed to Return for A Sequel

"Annabelle," the 2014 horror movie about a spooky vintage doll, is confirmed to get a sequel by way of New Line Cinema.

According to IGN, an exclusive report by The Tracking Board confirms that scriptwriter Gary Dauberman, who also wrote the first "Annabelle," is coming back to write the script for the sequel. Dauberman is also known for his past works like "Crime of the Century," "Swamp Devil," "Bloodmonkey," "In the Spider's Web" and "Vessels." It was reported that "Annabelle" marks Dauberman's first theatrical feature. Currently, the movie is said to be in development already.

Unfortunately, Annabelle's director John Leonetti may not be directing the sequel according to The Tracking Board sources, therefore "Annabelle 2" is rumored to be currently looking for a director. Moreover, it was also said that James Wan (known for directing films "Fast and Furious 7" (2015,) "Insidious: Chapter 2" (2013,) "The Conjuring" (2013) and "Saw" (2004)) will be producing the sequel while Dave Neustadter and Walter Hamada overseeing the project for New Line Cinema.

"Annabelle" is actually a spinoff to the horror movie "The Conjuring." The story, which is said to be loosely based on a true story, revolves around a possessed vintage doll named "Annabelle," which ultimately ended up the hands of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. That is why "Annabelle" was featured in a box at the start of the movie "The Conjuring."

And "Annabelle" will return to the big screen to give fans nightmares that they might just end up throwing away or burning up their doll collection. According to IGN, the original movie grossed $246 million worldwide while its budget was only at just $6.5 million. It totally makes sense to make a sequel.

There are no updates about the cast of the sequel at the moment. Gary Dauberman reportedly will write CBS Films' Halloween horror movie "Hellfest," which will be directed by Neil Marshall.
