Tag Heuer Smartwatch: First Image, Official Name and Price Teased

Tag Heuer, one of the big names in luxury Swiss watches, won't let its name fall behind in the business of making watches. The Swiss watchmaker has formed a partnership with Intel and Google to produce the world's first luxury Android Wear smartwatch.

Tag Heuer is about to unveil its own smartwatch and has teased the first image of its upcoming timepiece. In addition, it has unveiled the official name of its new watch, Tag Heuer Connected. According to Forbes, the Tag Heuer smartwatch is due to launch on Nov. 9 and the company has dedicated an official site for a countdown to the launch date.

In the website, the bottom features a timeline of the company's significant milestone in which 2015 in the timeline reads, "Tag Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant-garde limits even further with the Tag Heuer Connected. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough."

The smartwatch was announced back in march at Baselword and it was regarded by company's CEO Jean-Claude Biver as was the "biggest announcement ever" for the Swiss watchmaker. But he has explained during the announcement that the smartwatch won't be carrying the Swiss Made label, according to Wearable.

"The Tag Heuer watch will be assembled in Switzerland," Biver explained. "It will have probably 80 percent of the value coming from Switzerland. Now, the legislation for 'Swiss Made' has never been changed for connected watches. If the engine comes from outside Switzerland, the normal legislation says...in theory we could not name it 'Swiss Made.'"

Even if the smartwatch won't be carrying the "Swiss Made" label, Tag reported has made it clear that the smartwatch should maintain the tradition Tag Heuer is known for -- producing watches that last a lifetime. The Android Wear smartwatch that Tag will be launching will be upgradeable.

UK communications manager Alexandra King has told Wearable, "The watch will change the technology as it develops, Jean-Claude Biver was clear about that. We want to be able to change the technology but keep the watch elements,"

The Tag Heuer Connected reportedly will be priced around $1,400.
