Driving at It's Best: Gran Turismo 7 Could Include PlayStation VR Support

Driving in Gran Turismo 7 might feel more realistic with PlayStation VR.

Gran Turismo is considered as one of PlayStation's most important and iconic franchises, according to Game Rant. It was reported that many fans were disappointed that Gran Turismo 6 was released for PS3 when shortly after that PS4 came out. To appease fans, Gran Turismo 7 for pS4 is confirmed to be in development but it may not be released until 2017. Yet the developers of Gran Turismo 7 have another thing to worry about as Sony PlayStation president Shuhei Yoshida has recently expressed that he wants PlayStation VR support for the upcoming driving game.

At EGX 2015, Yoshida told Eurogamer that, "Many trial tests we've been doing, some genres just work fine. One of those genres is racing games. So when Gran Turismo comes out on PS4, I'd like to see it support PlayStation VR, yeah."

And speaking about the new technology, he added, ""As far as VR, for the future, is concerned, I have no question that in a few years everyone will be using some VR tech as a part of their lives. Even outside entertainment systems. It's a new tech, it's a new media."

Although this does not confirm that Gran Turismo 7 is guaranteed to have PlayStation VR support, a driving game does seem to fit well as a VR game since most racing games offer view from the cockpit or the driver's seat. According to Game Rant, with the VR the driving experience may be seriously exhausting but it would feel just like the real thing. Moreover, support from a game as iconic as Gran Turismo can greatly help Sony move some PlayStation VR units.

PlayStation VR is said to be due for release in the second quarter of 2016 and with Gran Turismo rumored to be released a year later, they might just have some time to give the game PS VR support.
