‘Criminal Minds’ Season 11 Episode 2 Recap: Lust and Vengeance Intertwine in ‘The Witness’

"Criminal Minds" episode 2 of season 11 called "The Witness" finds one man's lust and another's desire for vengeance spin out of control which pits the BAU against a cunning and master manipulator.

The second episode of "Criminal Minds" season 11 has the earmark of a terrorist plot and a race against time to save lives by the show's protagonists, the BAU. However, a sarin gas attack on a bus that leaves 10 people dead is just a strand in a tangled web of deceit and manipulation that is motivated by lust and vengeance.

The show opens with a man who, in true "Criminal Minds" fashion, figures to be the unsub or at least has a big connection to whoever the BAU is going to be chasing after. His name is Charlie and he is seen digging a hole for the dead body lying down next to him. The next scene then shows a bus passing by which later slams into the sidewalk; 10 people are dead and the BAU gets called to investigate a chemical gas attack.

Hotch and company figured out that somebody with an expert know-how of chemical gas weapons is behind the attack. Charlie is spotted in a security footage and is brought in for questioning. He denies a hand in the attack but the team is convinced he is hiding something.

It is later revealed that Charlie is guilty of killing his wife's lover Theo who also happens to be a terrorist planning an attack with his brother Mitchell. Theo falls in love with a married woman and when Charlie found out, he confronted Theo and accidentally killed him. Mitchell saw this and decided to manipulate Charlie so he can take the fall for the sarin gas attack on the bus.
