If you happen to be a resident of one of the central coastal areas of California and are planning to buy a new home or renovate your old one, your dream of appearing on TV for a reality show might just come true.

Home and Garden Television ( HGTV),  is looking for couples who are planning to buy or have recently purchased a home in the areas of Capitola, Santa Cruz, Carpinteria, Rio Del Mar and Cayucos and who are also planning on keeping the property as a holiday retreat or rental.

The channel will help you redecorate and renovate the house with its own funds and will also give you a chance to appear on their brand new reality TV series.

However, there are a few requirements that the channel prescribes. The ideal location of the house must be near the ocean or it must be a part of the "beach community". The home's value must be somewhere within $400,000 to $600,000.

The announcement on the HGTV official website reads:

"The home should be as close to the ocean as price will allow, nearby or part of the local "beach community," and have a property value in the $400,000 to $600,000 range. We are particularly interested in hearing from couples, who are ready to start renovations almost immediately and certainly by mid-May, 2013.

In exchange for participation in the show, the chosen couple will receive funds to assist in renovation. Please send a bio about yourselves and detailed information on the home you plan to renovate including pictures, property value and location to"
