'Metal Gear Solid 5' News Updates: Additional Outfits, FOB Event Mission, and Insurance that Can be Paid with Real Money

The action adventure stealth game "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" gets a DLC as Konami launches Metal Gear Online.

Just recently, Konami revealed new multiplayer options for Metal Gear Solid 5 as the company assures that the Metal Gear Servers are already normal. The new multiplayer options include the MGS5 DLC costumes and new micro-transaction options. Moreover, according to Express, some of the outfits that were featured during the 2015 Tokyo Game Show have been made available including the EVA suit. The EVA suit is said to be officially described in the game as, "Jumpsuit that the female spy EVA wore during Operation Snake Eater. The chest area can be unzipped for a tactical advantage."

According to Aside from the new outfits the DLC content for the "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" comes with FOB Event Mission and FOB Insurance Services for online play. According to Express, the FOB event mission, allows players to invade other games without the risk of a counter-attack. FOB Insurance, on the other hand is a paid service with which player will be compensated any staff or items lost from rival infiltrations.

With FOB insurance, according to Konami, "Staff/materials stolen by the rival will in fact remain on your base, and an identical amount of staff/materials will be handed over to the rival instead". The website also lists what is not covered by the FOB insurance. It states that staff/items that are not fully your property, wounded staff, staff used by you to deploy in defense of the FOB, and Nuclear weapons are not covered.

On the other hand, not everybody is convinced about the usefulness of the "Metal Gear Solid's" FOB Insurance Service. According to Ars Technica, the whole raiding idea introduced with FOB Missions is pointless when the raided party will still get to keep what the raided party has stolen because of FOB insurance. It was also reported the insurance won't be a one-time payment feature so players would have to continue paying real money to protect items/staff from being stolen.

What are your thoughts on the FOB Insurance service?
