'Brotox' Is Back; More Men Are Getting Botox

Men are not usually fascinated of plastic surgery, are they? Well, men can be vain too.

Reports came out that more and more men are heading to plastic surgeon's clinic to get themselves a Botox treatment. Botox is a non-invasive procedure wherein an age-defying injection is given. Looks like "Brotox" is back.

According to PEOPLE, celebrities such as Simon Cowell and reality star Todd Chrisley admitted to using Botox. Cowell revealed to the U.K.'s Glamour Magazine that he is getting regular Botox injections. Simon said, "To me, Botox is no more unusual than toothpaste. It works, you do it once a year - who cares?"

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that an estimated of 400,000 men received Botox injections in 2014. This marks a 337 percent increase since 2000. On the other hand, around 90,000 men received fillers that show an 86 percent increase since 2000.

Dr. Timothy Neavin, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon told PEOPLE, "In the last few years, there has been a surge of men seeking minimally invasive facial rejuvenation." He added, "More than ever, men are seeking beauty maintenance in the form of fillers and Botox because when they are properly administered, they work so well to create natural looking results with zero 'evidence' or downtime."

According to Neavin, most of his clients who are getting Botox are at the age of 50 while those in their 20s and 30s just get fillers. Neavin also explained the reason why a lot of men are getting these non-invasive procedures.

He said, "The goal for many men isn't to look younger. They aim to look better, more attractive, more rested, and more fit."

Meanwhile, Dr. Saul Lahijani the CEO Beverly Hills Institute of Plastic Surgery shared that even though there is an increase of men getting Botox, the stigma attached to it still remains. He told PEOPLE, "The stigma still exists, but it is definitely becoming more accepted." He added, "I think we are generally becoming more accepting of men caring to maintain their appearance."
