Microsoft held their event yesterday October 6th and they had all the announcements we're waiting for. But perhaps the most awaited announcement is about the "Surface Pro 4". The success of the "Surface Pro 3" is undeniable, 98% of its users recommend the device to their friends and families, which is why the "Surface Pro 4" has become a much awaited release from Microsoft. Last year's Surface was super powerful and helpful which is why you wouldn't think an improvement would be possible, but it is.
"Surface Pro 4" Design
The Microsoft team is very proud of what they have produced as the 4th generation of the Surface series. They have mentioned that the competitors are chasing their success in creating nothing but the best when it comes to tablets. Now, they introduce the "Surface Pro 4" as the thinnest most powerful tablet that has ever been presented. From 12 inches, the new Surface is now 12.3 inches diagonal with 267 ppi and 5 million pixels on the screen.
PixelSense Technology
Microsoft also gave a walkthrough on what they call the PixelSense technology. This technology starts with the cover glass, which is 400 microns thick. It is .4 mm and the thinnest cover glass with Gorilla Glass 4 on it ever shipped on a tablet. There is also a 1.1 mm backlight unit and a Photo-aligned negative LC oxide. This is by far the best technology on a screen right now, and Microsoft has their own custom chipset to bring this all together - the G5 chipset. This chipset brings in the best pen-and-touch experience you'll ever get from a tablet. With that, the Microsoft team introduces the latest "Surface Pen".
"Surface Pro 4" Pen
What is interesting about the "Surface Pen" is that it has an eraser tail. But apart from that unique feature, this "Surface Pen" has 1024 levels of pressure on its tip. So when you press it down to your screen, it gives you the pen ink experience that a normal pen can give you.
The Pen comes with a full year of battery life and Microsoft explains why they resolved to this. They say that if it is a pen, you're gonna have to change ink once in a while. They did not come up with a rechargeable solution so users can have a continuous usage of the pen.
And to answer to tweets and feedbacks about the difficulty of storing a pen for the "Surface Pro 3", the team came up with a "Surface Pen" storage on the "Surface Pro 4".
The Pen also acts as a one buttoned remote for your device. Clicking it two times will activate OneNote, so when you use your pen to drag/highlight a portion of your screen, it will automatically be pasted on OneNote and you can paint over it and send to people. When you click and hold the pen, it will activate Cortana and you can give it a voice command. This "Surface Pen" will also work with apps which makes it extra powerful. There are 5 pen colors with interchangeable pen tips.
"Surface Pro 4" Performance
The "Surface Pro 3" has heard great feedbacks with its powerful performance. But with "Surface Pro 4", the company has made it 30% faster than the "Surface Pro 3", so you can just imagine how fast that is. The company said they won't compare it to other tablets as the Surface is in a different class, so they just compared it to a device that the team deems to be on the same class as the Surface which is the "MacBook Air". This Mac is also one of the greatest devices of its kind, but as per Microsoft, the "Surface Pro 4" is 50% faster than the "MacBook Air".
The RAM is a massive 16 GB and the storage is up to 1 TB.
"Surface Pro 4" Type Cover
The new type cover is the lightest and thinnest cover the company has ever shipped. They have improved the keyset and this product is still usable for the "Surface Pro 3". The keys has a 1.3 mm travel and it is soft for the hands for typing. The new keyboard comes with a Windows Hello recognition with fingerprint reader for logging in and out.
"Surface Pro 4" Price And Release Date
The "Surface Pro 4" will be available October 26 with a price of $899. Pre order is already going on.
